Pre-Mortuary Science at WSU
As one of the ONLY programs of its kind in the country, the Wayne State University Mortuary Science Program offers students the opportunity to train as funeral service professionals in the heart of Detroit. Each year, graduates of the mortuary science program pass the National Board Exam at higher rates than the national average. Graduates are also finding employment at a rate of 90%. Students hoping to work in funeral services anywhere in the nation are in the right place to start their educational journey.
The advisors in the Pre-Med and Health Science Center (PMHSC) provide prerequisite and preparatory advising for students who are interested in applying to the mortuary science program. Topics during advising appointments will include:
-
Course planning
-
Assessing competitiveness
-
Application guidance
Students who are interested in learning more about the professional program should plan to attend an information session with the WSU College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. These sessions are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 6pm on Zoom.
Prospective mortuary science students can also read about the program prerequisite coursework and admissions requirements on the mortuary science website.
