Letters of Evaluation
PA programs want to hear directly from individuals who know the applicants well. They also want at least one letter writer to verify the candidate patient contact hours. Beyond that, each program will have a required combination of letter writers that may include work supervisors, PAs who have been shadowed, science instructors, and more. Candidates must check individual program websites and review the requirements.
Candidates will submit a minimum of three, maximum of five, letters. All evaluations are submitted electronically by the letter writers into Letters by Liaison, the CASPA Recommender Portal, during the appropriate application cycle. Letters cannot be stored, saved, or submitted any other way. Please note that at least two letters must be received by CASPA before an application can be verified. This means that collecting letters is an early item on the to-do list of a PA applicant.
